Electricity Balancing Market

The purpose of the balancing process is to maintain a balance in the system between production/import and consumption (demand/export). The deviation of the frequency from the nominal frequency arises from the imbalance between production and demand.

THE UNIT FOR ORGANIZATION AND MANAGEMENT OF THE BALANCING ENERGY MARKET performs the following activities:

  • Concluding Agreements for the transmission of EE;
  • Preparation of monthly reports for the operation of the electrical power transmission system in accordance with the Law of Energy;
  • Registration of the participants in the electricity market for participation in the auctions for allocation of cross-border transmission capacities;
  • Planning and procurement of system services;
  • Concluding of Agreements for Balance Service Providers;
  • Concluding of Agreements with Balance Responsible Parties (BRP);
  • Keeping a BRP and balance groups Registry;
  • Calculation of the cost of settlement of deviations and activated balancing energy;
  • Planning, procurement and delivery of EE for compensation of unwanted deviations in the control area in accordance with ENTSO-E regulation;
  • Concluding Agreements for purchase and sale of EE to cover unwanted deviations in the transmission network;
  • Planning and procurement of EE to cover electricity losses in the transmission network;
  • Concluding Electricity Supply Agreements to cover losses in the transmission network with the most favorable bidders;
